Many are called, but few are chosen,
We feel special with attention of dozen.
Tell ourselves, ‘variety is the spice of life’,
Be us in a relationship, a hubby or a wife.

We tend to get carried away so easily,
When people praise us, almost constantly.
We like that, they call & chat from left to right,
We love the competition, center of the fights.

We feel, it’s my time to shine, why waste it?
It’s my moment of greatness, the crown fits.
Spend seasons, counting the twinkling stars,
Ignoring the moon, ’cause it’s boring like Mars.

We tend to overlook people that truly see us,
Push away those that help us stay on course.
We choose money & physique over character,
We pick shape and figure, instead of manners.

We get lost in the noise, rather than seek the quiet,
Eat junk & chug poison, rather than watch our diet.
At the end of the day, we seem to blame our choices,
But, when it was speaking to us, we ignored the voices.

I hope we never realize what we lost when it’s too late,
When the attention fades and we can’t reverse the date.
